NORFOLK, Va. -- Trailing 4-1 heading into the eighth, Old Dominion scored 13 runs in the bottom half of the inning to rally over Princeton, 14-4, on Tuesday evening at the Bud Metheny Complex.

Princeton (2-10, 0-0 Ivy League) jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first inning and would maintain that margin into the eighth, before Old Dominion (16-4, 3-0 C-USA) rallied for its third win this season when trailing entering the eighth inning. With the win, the Monarchs extended their season-long win streak to six games.

Back-to-back singles from Zach Rutherford and Culver Lamb began the eighth and then Bryce Windham drew a walk to load the bases. Will Morgan's line-drive single to left scored two and then Jared Young tied the game with an infield single that scored Windham. Freshman Kyle Battle then plated the game-winning run with a single to left.

Following Battle's single, Vinnie Pasquantino and Lamb both added two-RBI hits to headline the remainder of the Monarchs' 13-run frame. Overall, the Monarchs sent 16 batters to the plate during the inning.

On the mound, five different ODU relievers combined to throw 8.2 innings of shutout ball, after starting pitcher Joe Strzelecki was pulled after a third of an inning. All four Princeton runs were credited to Strzelecki.

Kyle Beam, who pitched 2.2 innings in replacement of Strzelecki, and Morgan Maguire, who tossed three frames of one-hit ball and picked up his second win of the season, pitched a majority of the relief, while Jim Wilkerson worked out of a key jam in the fifth with runners on second and third and one out.

Overall, the ODU bullpen combined to scatter six hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out nine.

At the plate, Young and Morgan both finished with three-hit games, combining for three runs scored and five RBIs. Lamb went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Kurt Sinnen went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

ODU and Princeton conclude the midweek series tomorrow at 3 p.m. at The Bud. Jake Josephs is projected to start on the mound for the Monarchs.
