No. 25 Old Dominion Welcomes St. John’s on Saturday at 1PM

NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 25 nationally ranked Old Dominion men’s tennis team (9-3) hosts St. Johns (6-8) on Saturday, Mar. 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

Old Dominion is coming off a win against the University of Pennsylvania, 4-3.

ODU’s doubles tandem of Adam Moundir and Jacob Nicolussi is ranked No. 45 in the country and are coming off two wins this past weekend. No. 32 Adam Moundir split his matches over the weekend and is now 7-2 this spring.  Sophomore Aziz Kijametovic moved to 7-3 on the weekend after splitting his two matches as well. Junior Michael Weindl improved to 6-2 on the year after this past weekend.

“We are obviously thrilled to be in the Top 25,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “It was one of the goals we set for ourselves before the season, but we can’t be satisfied since there is a lot of more tennis to be played. Overall I’m just happy for our guys, because they put in a lot of hard work to get there.”

The Tennis Monarchs are currently 9-3 on the season with wins over N.C. State, Richmond, Howard, San Francisco, Harvard, Denver, Elon, Clemson and Penn.

Meet St. John’s:
St. John’s has started the season 6-8, with 5 of their wins coming on their home court in New York City. The Red Storm will travel to William & Mary and VCU before their matchup in Norfolk against ODU on Saturday. Senior Roberto Livi is ranked at No. 123 in the nation.
