Lady Monarchs Host Tribe In Midweek Matchup

NORFOLK, Va. – ODU women’s lacrosse hosts old CAA rival William and Mary at the L.R. Hill Complex for a midweek match-up on Wednesday, March 15, at 5 p.m. The game is the ODU SAAC ‘Championship Effort’ game and all student-athletes are encouraged to attend and support the Lady Monarch lacrosse team.

The Lady Monarchs enter the game Wednesday after falling to American, 11-10, in the home opener on Saturday, March 11.

  • Connor Carson recorded her third hat trick of the season on Saturday against American. She has 13 goals and two assists for team-high 15 points.
  • Sophia Richie is on Carson’s tail with 12 goals and an assist for 13 points.
  • Morgan Marrale and Megan Topper are tied for a team-high six assists.
  • Kerri Caruso leads all Lady Monarchs with 14 ground balls, while Maggi Buckley, Alyssa Sebesto and Natalie Ledwitz are all tied in second with 13 apiece.
  • Ledwitz holds the team-high in draw controls with 15 and caused turnovers with 11. Caruso is just behind in caused turnovers with 10.
  • Buckley has played 357:08 minutes in net for ODU. She has collected 56 saves and has a 0.463 save percentage.
  • 12 different athletes have scored at least one goal this season led by Carson's 13 and Richie's 12.
  • As a team the Lady Monarchs sit third in the ASUN in caused turnovers with 9.67 a game.
  • They are second in save percentage sitting at 0.459 and Buckley is third in the ASUN with 9.33 saves per game.

William & Mary (2-5, 0-0 CAA)
William and Mary picked up their second win of the season, 19-18 over the University of California on Saturday, March 11 in Berkeley, Calif.

  • The 19-18 win over Cal snapped a three-game losing streak for the Tribe.
  • The 19 goals scored was the second time this season the Tribe scored 19 goals in a game.
  • McKinley Wade leads W&M with 13 goals while Lindsey Jenks is close behind with 12.
  • Alex Lista has started six-of-seven games in net for the Tribe. She has collected 53 saves while giving up 69 goals.

Series History…These two teams are familiar foes having competed against each other in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Lady Monarchs and the Tribe have competed every year since the ODU lacrosse program began in 1980. During that time W&M has carved out a 34-12 series advantage over Old Dominion.

In the most recent encounter, the Tribe defeated the Lady Monarchs 17-14 in Williamsburg, Va. on March 10, 2016. William & Mary enters the game on a three-game win streak over Old Dominion.

Old Dominion has a week and a half off before opening up Atlantic SUN conference competition on March 24. The reigning regular season champions, Jacksonville, come to the L.R. Hill Complex for a 3 p.m. match on Friday afternoon.
