CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The Old Dominion wrestling team is set to compete in the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships at the University of Northern Iowa's McLeod Center on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5.
After wrapping up the dual meet season two weeks ago, the Monarchs are now set for the individual postseason. The MAC was awarded 37 automatic NCAA qualifying allocations, as was announced by the NCAA last week. The weight-by-weight qualifier allocations are as follows:
Seeds for the 2017 MAC Championships were released earlier this week, as the Monarchs' Jack Dechow and Kevin Beazley earned the No. 2 seed at 184 and 197, respectively, while Seldon Wright was ODU's lone No. 3 seed, as the sophomore grabbed the third slot at 165 lbs.
Kevin Budock and Michael Hayes were each awarded No. 5 seeds at 141 and 149, respectively, while Alex Madrigal, Larry Early and Antonio Agee were seeded seventh in their weight classes. Steven Simpson and Will Hilliard will wrestle a preliminary match as the No. 8/9 seeds in their brackets.
SCHEDULE
COVERAGE
Saturday's ESPN3 coverage of the MAC Championships will begin at 12 p.m. (CT) with the quarterfinals and will continue through the 3 p.m. semi-finals on three mats. Fans can tune in to the live broadcast here.
Sunday's coverage picks back up at 1:05 p.m. (CT) with the medal rounds followed by the 1:45 p.m. championship finals parade and 2 p.m. championship finals matches. Fans can watch the ESPN3 broadcast here.
