NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion lacrosse team takes to the road on Wednesday, March 1, for their fourth straight road game. The Lady Monarchs will face off against the Spiders of the University of Richmond at 4 p.m. at the Robins Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.

Due to weather that is predicted to move through the Richmond area, ODU head coach Heather Holt and Richmond coach Allison Kwolek have agreed to move the game forward an hour and will now begin at 4 p.m.

Old Dominion (2-1, 0-0 ASUN)
The Lady Monarchs were dealt their first loss of the season at #20 Virginia Tech on Saturday, Feb. 25. Wednesday’s match at Richmond will be the second of three games in the span of a week.

  • Sophia Richie, a sophomore midfielder, recorded her first career hat trick at #20 Virginia Tech on Saturday, Feb. 25. She scored half of the ODU goals, doubling up her season total of goals to six and now leads the team in goals.
  • Cydney Tutchton and Megan Topper are tied for first in points with seven each. Topper caught Tutchton by scoring a goal and adding an assist at Tech on Saturday.
  • Topper and Morgan Marrale sit tied for the lead in assists with four each.
  • Alyssa Sebesto has a team-high eight ground balls, while Natalie Ledwitz has seven and Connor Carson has six.
  • Ledwitz leads the Lady Monarchs in draw controls with 12, double the amount of Tutchton in second. Eight of her 12 draws came in the loss to Virginia Tech, she led both teams in draws.
  • Ledwitz also has a team-high seven caused turnovers. Colby Muller and Megan Donohue are tied for second with four each.
  • Maggi Buckley collected 12 saves at Tech putting her season total at 30 saves. She holds a .462 save percentage and an 11.86 goals-against average.

Richmond (1-1, 0-0 A-10)
Richmond enters the game after falling to UVA 15-14, on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Robins Stadium. The Spiders allowed to last minute goals falling to 1-1 heading into Wednesdays game.

  • Natalia Chaney leads the spiders with nine goals while Sam Geiersbach is second with six. The two are tied for second with nine total points this season.
  • Marissa Brown holds the lead in points with 10 off three goals and a team-high seven assists.
  • Richmond has scored 32 goals while allowing opponents to collect 22, for a 10-goal point differential.
  • Goalie Megan Gianforte has given up 22 goals while collecting 24 saves through two games.

Series history
Old Dominion leads the series 24-20 in a rivalry that dates back to the programs first year in 1980. Richmond has won the last seven encounters including a 13-7 win at the L.R. Hill Complex in Norfolk last year.

Looking Forward
The Lady Monarchs will play again on Saturday, March 4, in their fifth road game that started the 2017 season. Old Dominion will face Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. at 12 p.m. at the Liberty Lacrosse Field located at the East Campus Athletic Field Complex.
