NORFOLK, Va. -- Four Old Dominion wrestling signees captured state titles over the weekend, as Trevon Majette (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith), Killian Cardinale (Bristow, Va./Brentsville District) and Noah Bushman (Bent Mountain, Va./Cave Spring) won titles in Virginia while Michael McGee (Bolingbrook, Ill./Plainfield East) clinched the state crown in Illinois.
Majette, a local product out of Chesapeake's Oscar Smith High School, claimed the VHSL 6A gold medal at 126 lbs., avenging a state tournament loss from a year ago in the semifinals and controlling his way to a 7-1 decision in the finals. The state title was the first for Majette, who had previously medaled at the state championship twice.
Two other future Monarchs clinched state titles in the VHSL 3A division, as Killian Cardinale from Brentsville District won the 120 lb. bracket for his second state title and Noah Bushman cruised to his third state crown at 195 lbs.
In Illinois, ODU signee Michael McGee, ranked No. 4 in the nation by InterMat, earned a tech. fall in the IHSA 3A state finals at 120 lbs. en route to his second state title, capping off an undefeated senior campaign.

Signees Cade Hepner (Avon, Ohio/St. Edward), Mason Wohltman (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) and George Walton III (Somerset, N.J./Bound Brook) will contend for state titles in their respective states in the next two weeks.
