EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Old Dominion wrestler Terrell Forbes placed second at the Warriors Winter Open at East Stroudsburg University Sunday in the 174 lb. weight class, while several other Monarchs registered top-six finishes.
Forbes, a redshirt junior from Jersey City, N.J., posted a 3-1 record on the day en route to a runner-up finish. Forbes defeated opponents from Navy, Pitt and Buffalo and earned a tech. fall victory before falling in the finals to Army's Noah Stewart.
Chris Mauriello and Luke Drugac placed fourth at 157 and 165, respectively, as both Monarchs went 2-2 and reached the semifinals of their brackets.
Heavyweight Ali Wahab fought his way back to a fifth-place finish after losing his opening bout, earning a major decision and a fall in the consolation bracket.
The Monarchs' Kenan Carter registered a sixth-place finish at 141, posting a 3-2 record and narrowly losing to the eventual champion by a 6-4 decision in the quarterfinals.
Also competing for Old Dominion were: Connor Wallace (0-2 at 133), Jaquan Loney (1-2 at 133), Tanner Stephens (1-2 at 149), Shane Jones (2-2 at 157) and Dean Drugac (2-2 at 174).
