BERKELEY, Cali. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (1-1) fell to Missouri (SEC), by a 4-1 score on Sunday at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Lady Monarchs were without its No. 97 nationally ranked freshman Holly Hutchinson. ODU will play Xavier (Big East) on Monday at 1:00 p.m. EST in the 2017 ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
In No. 1 singles Borislava Botusharova (ODU) took down Bea Machado Santos (Missouri), 6-4, 6-1.
There are 15 "regionals" played being played this week. In all, it’s the top 60 nationally ranked teams from last season competing in this Kick-Off Weekend.
Looking Back:
Old Dominion's No. 1 and No. 2 singles players, Borislava Botusharova and Holly Hutchinson, dominated their first matches of 2017 against Temple (American Athletic Conference), only dropping a combined four games in four sets between them.
Host sites for Kick-Off Weekend were determined using the final 2015-16 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. A draft was held to fill the No.'s 2-4 seeds at all locations, again using the final national team rankings as a guide to determine draft order for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
