NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University celebrated student-athlete success at last night's men's basketball game with a halftime ceremony that saluted all Dean's List honorees.

168 student-athletes made the Dean's List for the fall semester, achieving a 3.4 grade point average or higher and 12 teams posted a combined GPA of a 3.0 or higher.

The Dean’s List performers represent 33 percent of ODU’s enrolled undergraduate student-athletes. Twenty-one student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPA’s, while 264 had a 3.0 or higher.

Additionally, 12 of ODU’s 18 teams earned combined GPA’s of a 3.0 or higher, led by Women’s Golf (3.57), Women’s Soccer (3.5), Women’s Swimming (3.46), Field Hockey (3.35), Men’s Swimming (3.33), Women’s Lacrosse (3.31), Baseball (3.24), Women’s Sailing (3.2), Men’s Tennis (3.2), Women’s Tennis (3.2), Wrestling (3.09).

"To have a third of our student-athletes on the Deans List is truly a remarkable achievement,” says Randale Richmond, Sr. Associate Athletic Director for Academics & Compliance. “It starts with leadership. President Broderick and Dr. Selig make it very clear that high academic performance is a top priority for this University. After that, it is comes down to the student-athletes. The effort they put forth to not only be the best in their sports, but also, the best in the classroom, which epitomizes what it means to give a Championship Effort.”
