CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – ODU rowing placed three boats in the top-10 including a program best in the Women’s Championship 4+, this weekend at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For a full list of results click here.

The Lady Monarchs raced two boats in the Women’s Championship 8+ with Boat A finishing in 10th with a time of 17:17.0. Boat B finished 21st with a 18:07.9 time ahead of three other teams from Clemson, Chicago and Eastern Michigan.

The Women’s College & Club Novice 8+ boat finished 16th of 40 with a time of 20:08.5 as the only boat from Old Dominion represented in the novice category.

Old Dominion raced two boats in the Women’s Championship 4+ in a field of 31 teams. Boat A finished 7th with a time of 18:26.6 for a program best finish in the Championship 4+. Boat B came in 21st with a time of 19:19.1 in front of teams from seven schools including Eastern Michigan, North Carolina, Jacksonville, Ohio State and Vanderbilt.

The Lady Monarchs best performance of the weekend came Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Women’s Open 8+ race. Of the three boats ODU entered in the event, two finished in the top-12. Boat A finished 3rd with a time of 17:08.8 only behind teams from Clemson and Alabama. Boat B claimed a 12th place finish with a time of 18:01.0 while Boat C rounded up the group with a 24th place finish a time of 20:03.1.

“I am super proud of the team and all the progress they’ve made this fall,” said head coach Dan Garbutt. “They are a resilient group of athletes. Time to get everyone healthy and get back to work.”
