TULSA, Okla. – Adam Moundir and Michael Weindl of the ODU men’s tennis team completed action at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

“I think we had a fantastic trip,” said Old Dominion head coach Dominik Mueller. “We came here to compete against the best in college tennis and that's exactly what we did. We beat several nationally ranked players and many prominent programs. We learned that we are right there with the elite of college tennis teams and we now have to learn how to win some of those close matches we lost. I'm very proud of how our guys represented ODU this entire week.”

No. 110 Adam Moundir knocked off two nationally ranked opponents in route to his successful week of work. In the First Round of the Qualifying Draw, Moundir took down No. 111 Jeffrey Schorsch of Valparaiso in three sets (6-3, 6-7, 6-2). In the Second Round, Moundir made quick work of UC Irvine’s No. 79 nationally ranked Sebastian Heim (6-1, 6-4). In the Third Round, Moundir claimed the first set but would drop the next two to Christian Searphin of Wake Forest (4-6, 6-2, 7-5).

Earlier this week, Weindl earned his way to the qualifying stages of the prestigious ITA All-American Championships after going a perfect 3-0 in the pre-qualifying draw. In Round One of the Qualifying Draw, Weindl battled No. 87 nationally ranked Arjun Kadhe of Oklahoma State down to the wire, before eventually falling in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 7-6(5).
