CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Old Dominion field hockey senior Megan Byas was selected by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association to compete in the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Meg," head coach Andrew Griffiths said. "She has been a leader and an excellent player for ODU and has shown resilience, rebounding from a serious knee injury in her freshman season, and has gotten stronger each year. We are proud to have her represent ODU at the Senior All-Star Game."
Starting every game as a back for Old Dominion the last three seasons, Byas completed her senior campaign with four goals and two assists, including the game-winning score that propelled the Lady Monarchs to a 2-1 OT victory over then-14th-ranked Liberty.
For her career, the Driffield, England native was a Preseason All-BIG EAST unanimous selection in 2016 and twice earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors, with the 2016 all-conference teams yet to be announced.
One of 50 student-athletes in the nation chosen as either participants or alternates for the event, Byas and the rest of the Senior Game participants will play between the 2016 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship semi-finals and finals that are set to take place Friday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 20, respectively, at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
The teams for the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game have yet to be decided but will be announced in the coming days. For the full release from the NFHCA, click here.
