NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team (7-10, 3-4 BIG EAST) fell to fifth-ranked North Carolina (14-4, 4-3 ACC) in its final game of the season, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Seniors Megan Byas, Casey Dolan and Alyssa Jones were honored during a pregame senior ceremony before their final games at Old Dominion.

The Lady Monarchs and Tar Heels battled to a scoreless tie at the half. UNC led the shot count, 6-1, but ODU goalkeeper Kealsie Robles made four first half saves to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.

North Carolina broke the deadlock in the 45th minute when Marissa Creatore tapped in a long pass from the right side by Emma Bozek.

The Tar Heels struck again in the 55th minute when Lauren Moyer dribbled from the right side and hurled a shot into the right corner of the cage to give UNC a 2-0 advantage.

North Carolina finished the game with 18 shots and nine penalty corner attempts, while ODU took two shots and had one penalty corner.

Amie Olton and Erin Huffman each took one shot for the Lady Monarchs on the afternoon.

Robles registered seven saves in the cage for ODU.

The Lady Monarchs finished the season with a 7-10 record and a 3-4 mark in BIG EAST action.
