NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s soccer team (4-8-0, 2-2-0 C-USA) fell by a 2-0 score to UTEP (9-2-2, 2-1-0 C-USA) on Sunday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Complex.

The Miners scored the first half’s lone goal in the 23rd minute, when Bri Thomas found Jeanna Mullen to give UTEP a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Mullen’s second goal of the season marked the first goal that Old Dominion had given up in a total of 223 minutes in conference play.  

ODU’s Krista Moisio made three tough first half saves to keep the Lady Soccer Monarchs within one. For the half, UTEP held advantages in shots (8-6), as well as corners (4-1).

UTEP scored its second and final goal in the 52nd minute, when Kennadie Chaudhary fed Bri Barreiro for her second goal of the season.

For the match, UTEP held a slim 15-14 advantage in shots, while each team attempted five corners, respectively. Old Dominion’s Krista Moisio compiled five saves, while Alyssa Palacious tallied eight saves for UTEP.

Old Dominion will be back in action next Sunday, October 9th, when they travel to take on Florida International at 1:00 p.m. The match can be seen live in HD via C-USA TV.

The top eight out of 14 teams earn a spot in the 2016 Conference USA Tournament held in Charlotte N.C. on Nov. 2-6.
