No. 19 ODU Heads to Quinnipiac Friday, Hosts No. 4 Duke Sunday

NORFOLK, Va. -- The 19th-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team (6-6, 2-2 BIG EAST) will head to New Haven, Connecticut this Friday, Oct. 14 for an 11:30 a.m. conference game against Quinnipiac (3-10, 2-2 BIG EAST) before returning home to the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Sunday to host No. 4 Duke (11-2, 3-1 ACC) at 1 p.m. 

ODU enters the weekend after falling to Temple, 2-1 OT, last Friday in Philadelphia. Despite a goal scored by Chrissy Horn and ODU owning a 21-7 shot advantage, the Owls were able to find the back of the cage in overtime to secure the conference victory. 

The Lady Monarchs are led in scoring by junior Danielle Grega, who has tallied 13 points off six goals and one assist. The trio of Megan Byas, Casey Dolan and Erin Huffman each have eight points on the year coming off four goals apiece. Chrissy Horn has now registered two goals and three assists, giving the sophomore seven points on the year. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Kealsie Robles has played every minute for the Lady Monarchs in the cage and has racked up 50 saves and recorded a shutout victory over conference foe Georgetown. 

BIG EAST newcomer Quinnipiac enters Friday's mid-day game with a 3-10 record and a 2-2 mark within conference play. Last time out, the Bobcats picked up a 2-0 shutout win over Brown. Against common opponents, Quinnipiac defeated Georgetown, 4-2, but fell to Liberty, 6-1. 

Savanna Reilly leads the squad in scoring with 17 points, with seven goals and three assists to her credit. Dayna Barlow has tacked on four goals and two assists to date for the Bobcats. 

Friday's game will be played at Johnson Field on the campus of Yale University.

On Sunday, the fourth-ranked Duke Blue Devils come to Norfolk for a 1 p.m. showdown at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Duke, which will play No. 17 Wake Forest on Friday evening, currently carries an 11-2 record and a 3-1 mark within the ACC. 

The Blue Devils split games last weekend, as they pulled out a victory over then-No. 12 Princeton, 2-1, on Sunday after falling to then-No. 4 Syracuse, 5-1, last Friday. 

Heather Morris leads the squad in scoring with 24 points off 11 goals and two assists, while Alyssa Chillano has registered 23 points off 10 goals and three assists. 

Last season, Duke reached the NCAA semifinals where they fell to eventual runner-up North Carolina, 2-0.
