NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s soccer team (3-3-2, 0-1-1 CUSA) completes its three-game road trip this Saturday as it travels to Coastal Carolina (3-4-1, 0-0-0 Sun Belt) for a 1 p.m. match at the Coastal Carolina Soccer Complex in Conway, S.C. Fans can follow the game via live stats HERE.
Old Dominion heads into the match after a week of rest after playing two back-to-back road matches at VCU and UAB respectively. The Monarchs fell to the Rams 5-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 20 and drew with the Blazers 0-0 (2OT) on Saturday, Sept. 24, in conference competition.
Jesse Miralrio leads the team with 29 shots on the season and Sebastien Hauret holds the team high four assists and six points. The Monarchs have nine goals from eight different athletes including Niko Klosterhalfen’s two from the opening match against UNLV.
Jack Driscoll, Jimmy Filerman, Kaio DaSilva, Johan De Picker and Cole Stringer have helped to fortify the back line for Old Dominion collecting 31 blocked shots on the season with 12 coming in the last three matches.
Alex Tiesenhausen recorded seven saves en route to his second shutout of the season at UAB on the 24th, collecting his 12th career shutout. Tiesenhausen, who has 197 career saves, needs just nine saves to tie the program record of 206 career saves held by Joey Mallia set from 1987-90.
Coastal Carolina has a short rest period going into the match having played the College of Charleston on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Chanticleers earned their third win of the season en route to collecting their third shutout of the season over the Cougars 2-0.
The Chants and Monarchs have faced three of the same opponents this season in Radford, Charlotte and UAB, with CCU’s match against VCU getting postponed due to inclement weather on Sept. 2. Both teams have tallied the same record of 1-1-1 against those three opponents.
Saturday’s match will be the return to Conway for the Chanticleers who wrapped up their four-game road trip with the Cougars on Wednesday. For the Monarchs, the game represents the last game of a three-game road trip before returning home on Oct. 7.
Looking forward the Monarchs have another weeks rest before playing two matches in four days. The team returns to the ODU Soccer Complex on Friday, Oct. 7 as they host the Panthers of FIU at 7 p.m. in a conference USA match. Old Dominion hits the road again traveling down I-95 to face the Campbell Fighting Camels in Buies Creek, N.C. on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
