NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion and Stetson end in a tie 1-1 after two overtime periods [110 minutes] on Sunday night at the ODU Soccer Complex. Cole Stringer’s goal in the 32nd minute tied the game at one all and ultimately resulted in the final score. Stringer earned ‘Man of the Match’ honors for tallying the Monarchs lone goal.

The Hatters got on the board first with a goal by Ian McCauley, his first of the season, in the 5th minute [5:04] going up 1-0 over the Monarchs. McCauley connected with the net after a double-header by Luke Ferreira to Gabriel Diniz and in to McCauley to make the play.

The Monarchs tied the game at one all when Stringer headed the ball into the net off the corner kick from CJ Taylor. Stringer’s goal, his first of the season, came in the 32nd minute of action [32:47] and would be the final scoring play of the night.

Old Dominion dominated the stats with 26 shots, 12 on goal including Stringer’s goal and 19 corner kicks. Stetson collected six shots with two on goal, including the goal by McCauley, and seven corners.

Seven Monarchs recorded shots in the game led by Jesse Miralrio and Sebastien Hauret with eight apiece. Stringer had just one shot on the night that connected with the net for the tie. Also taking shots were Taylor (4), Tyler Edwards (2), Niko Klosterhalfen (2) and Jimmy Filerman (1).

Alex Tiesenhausen (ODU) and Paul Ladwig (Stetson) both play all 110 minutes in net. Tiesenhausen nabbed two saves giving up just one goal on the night, while Ladwig collected 10 saves while the Team had two for the Hatters.

Old Dominion is back in action on Friday, September 2 at the ODU Soccer Complex to face Loyola (Md.) at 7 p.m.
