NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (1-1, 0-0) scored two unanswered goals to hand Richmond (1-1, 0-0) its first loss of the season by a 2-1 score at the ODU Soccer Complex in front of a crowd of 305. Kathryn Hill and Madison Hogan each scored their first goals of the 2016 season in ODU’s home opener on Sunday night.

The Spiders got on the scoreboard first with a goal in the 9th minute by Lexi Prillaman. The goal was Prillaman’s second of the season.

In the 16th minute, a Kathryn Hill goal tied the score at 1-1. The goal came after Iris Achterhof sent a corner kick into the box, where Hill’s original shot was saved, only to have Hill collect the ball again and fire it past the Richmond keeper on her second attempt.

At the half, ODU held an 8-7 advantage in shots and 1-0 advantage in the corner kick department.

In the 76th minute, Madison Hogan converted on a misdirected deflection from Keri Vornadore to give ODU a 2-1 lead and ultimately its first win of the season.

Old Dominion’s Krista Moisio logged all 90 minutes in goal, collecting four saves, while Jessica Stanfill tallied three for the Spiders.

For the match, Richmond outshot the Lady Monarchs, 14-12, while both teams attempted four corners.
