NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s soccer team travels to William and Mary for their first exhibition game of the 2016 season on Monday, August 15. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on the Albert-Daly Field at Martin Family Stadium in Williamsburg, Va.
The Monarchs are coming off of an 8-5-3 season that ended in a 4-2 loss to FIU in the Conference USA tournament.
In pre-season Conference USA coaches’ polls, the Monarchs were picked to finish sixth in conference standings, ahead of UAB, Marshall and Florida Atlantic.
Five seniors, including pre-season C-USA All-Conference goalkeeper, Alex Tiesenhausen, lead Old Dominion. Jesse Miralrio, Nick Hutchinson, Cole Stringer and Christian Wirth round out the senior class while 11 other returners join them in welcoming a large 10-man freshman class.
The Tribe sports 20 returning players, nine starters, from the 2015 season including leading goal scorer William Eskay. William and Mary add just five freshmen to the roster heading into the season after graduating three seniors last season.
Looking ahead, the Monarchs play host to the Black Knights of Army on Saturday, August 20 at 7 p.m. for their second and final pre-season exhibition match. Old Dominion’s regular season slate begins with six consecutive home matches, the first being against UNLV on Friday, August 26 at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
