Kijametovic, Moundir Garner VaSID Men's Tennis All-State Honors

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Freshman Aziz Kijametovic was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year and sophomore Adam Moundir earned All-State First Team honors, the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced on Wednesday.

Kijametovic received a trio of honors, adding a second team selection in both singles and doubles to his Rookie of the Year award. The Bosnia & Herzegovina native posted a 17-4 record in singles, playing matches at the No. 1-3 spots. He opened his career with a 12-match winning streak and posted a 4-1 mark against opponents on nationally-ranked teams. 

Moundir, the 2016 Conference USA Player of the Year, was a first team singles selection and a second team doubles honoree. The Switzerland native went 17-5 in the No. 1 slot for the Monarchs, ending the year on a 12-match winning streak, and defeated three ranked foes over the course of the season.

As a doubles pair, Kijametovic and Moundir compiled an 11-5 record at the No. 1 doubles spot and ended the season ranked 66th in the country. 

National champion Virginia led all teams with five first team selections, including the state Player of the Year, and UVA head coach Brian Boland was named the state Coach of the Year.
