NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University senior skipper Esteban Forrer was named the MAISA Sportsman of the Year, while Kaylie Gallagher and Gabriel Smith earned All-Crew honors and Forrer and Augie Dale were named All-Conference skippers.
Forrer earned his all-conference honors for the third consecutive season after leading the Monarchs to a fifth place finish over the weekend at the America Trophy/MAISA Dinghy Championship Regatta. Forrer is the first ODU sailor to be named a Sportsman of the Year since Dillon Paiva was named the ICSA Sportsman of the Year in 2013.
Dale earned second-team all-conference honors leading the Division B boat to a fourth place finish this past weekend.
Smith earned his second-straight All-MAISA honors at crew while Gallagher earned the first honor of her career.
