NORFOLK, Va. -- Right off the heels of a 7-1 victory over old CAA rival William & Mary, the Old Dominion Baseball team will travel to Miami, Fla. to take on Florida International in a three-game series starting on Friday. The first two games will be streamed through fiusports.com, with the third on just the radio networks.

Overall, ODU holds a 5-2 edge in the series against the Panthers, will all the wins coming under head coach Chris Finwood. Last season, the Monarchs took two from FIU at the Bud Metheny Complex and did the same in Miami during the 2014 season.

The Monarchs snapped its three game losing streak with a 7-1 win over the Tribe on Wednesday night, with Nick Walker leading the way with a 2-for-2 outing with two runs and one RBI. ODU put its foot on the gas since the opening inning, scoring at least one run in five of the eight full innings played. Walker and Connor Myers also showed their speed on the base path, as the speedsters stole two bases apiece. As a team, ODU has stolen 42 bases this season. Myers (.303) is the only Monarch hitting .300 or better, while ODU's top two starting pitchers have nifty ERAs with Diaz sporting a 2.00 ERA and Sinnen carrying a 2.95 ERA

FIU took two out of three games from UTSA last weekend in San Antonio. The Panthers are hitting .311 which is second in the conference to Southern Miss's .324 average and is sixth in C-USA with a 4.35 ERA. FIU also tops C-USA with 347 hits and 62 doubles. Zack Soria is the reigning C-USA Hitter of the Week after going 11-for-19 last week with two home runs and six RBIs. FIU (4-5) enters the series tied for sixth in the C-USA standings with LA Tech, while the Monarchs (3-6) are tied for eighth with Charlotte and UAB.
