NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion sailing team notched a runner-up finish at the Mid-Atlantic Team Race Challenge in Norfolk over the weekend, placing only behind Navy.
ODU turned in a 6-1 record at the event, winning races over Fordham, Columbia, Penn, Kings Point, Virginia and Washington College and losing only to Navy. In the top-three sailoff, the Monarchs defeated eventual champion Navy but fell to Fordham to finish in second place via criteria points out of the eight participating schools.
The Monarch skippers for the event were Esteban Forrer, Joe David and Augie Dale, while the crews were Gabriel Smith, Katelyn Talley, Grace Mason, Carter Little, Kaylie Gallagher and Cady Johnson.
Old Dominion will host the MAISA Team Race Championship/Capt. Prosser Trophy this weekend on April 9-10.
