NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion baseball team heads to Ruston, Louisiana to take on the LA Tech Bulldogs in a three-game weekend series at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

The weekend series marks the 7th, 8th and 9th meetings between these two teams. Old Dominion holds a 5-2 advantage in the series that began in 2014. Last season, the Monarchs swept the Bulldogs at the Bud, 7-0, 4-2 and 6-5. The only LA Tech win came in 12 innings in game two during the weekend series in Ruston (6-9).

The Monarchs are on a three-game losing streak after falling, 6-8, in Lexington, Va. to the VMI Keydets on Tuesday. Seth Woodard knocked two home runs, marking his first and second career homers, to lead the Monarchs. On the night, he went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. Rutherford, Myers, Bishop and McMurray each recorded a hit for the Monarchs. Brett Smith was hit with the loss after he allowed the go-ahead runs in the eighth inning.

Louisiana Tech pitchers combined to strike out 15 batters and the Bulldogs scored three runs in both the fourth and seventh innings which led to a 7-3 victory over Grambling State Wednesday night in Ruston. LA Tech moved to 21-12 overall on the season as the Bulldogs have now won 24 straight contests over Grambling State on the diamond.

Braden Bristo (3-4) started for LA Tech on the mound and earned the win after pitching four innings and allowing two runs on five hits while striking out eight batters he faced. As a team, LA Tech's pitching staff combined to strike out 15 Grambling batters, which is the second-highest strikeout total this season for the Bulldogs. Six different Bulldogs recorded one hit on the night with Jordan Washam leading the way with three RBI's thanks to his home run in the seventh. Stark, Ullrich and Diaz also drove in runs in the win, while Hall, Chase Lunceford and Jonathan Washam also had base hits for LA Tech.
