PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Trey Freeman of the Old Dominion University men’s basketball team compiled 28 points, 22 assists, nine rebounds and six steals in his three games at the 64th annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament at Churchland High School.
In game one against KD Rounds, Freeman went for 15 points on 5-12 shooting from the floor, 3-6 from three and 2-2 from the free-throw line to go along with a team-high eight assists, a game-high four steals, one rebound and zero turnovers. For the ballgame, Freeman had an 8:0 assist to turnover ratio.
In game two against Portsmouth Sports Club, Freeman helped lead his squad to a narrow one-point victory, as he scored eight points on 4-8 shooting from the floor to go along with a game-high six assists, three rebounds and one steal.
In game three against Sales Systems, Freeman scored five points, while connecting on 1-2 from deep to go along with a game-high eight assists, five rebounds, one steal and zero turnovers. For the second time, Freeman possessed an 8:0 assist to turnover ratio.
For the tournament, Freeman connected on 11-28 from the floor, 4-9 from three and a perfect 2-2 from the charity stripe. For the three games, Freeman averaged 9.3 points, a team-high 7.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and just one turnover. His total assist to turnover ratio for the tournament was 7.3:1. All three of Portsmouth Partnership’s games were decided by just one point.
