IRVING, Texas – Adam Moundir of the Old Dominion’s men’s tennis team has been named the Conference USA Player of the Week. Moundir went a seamless 3-0 last week for Old Dominion, who is now nationally ranked No. 44 in this week’s ITA Rankings.
The sophomore performed valiantly against No. 70 William & Mary's No. 1, Christian Cargill, defeating him in straight sets (6-1, 6-0). Moundir followed up Saturday's performance with a thrilling three-set victory over No. 112 Santu Leskinen of No. 72 UNC Wilmington, 6-1, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3. ODU has won 16 of its last 17 matches, including wins against five ranked teams, and Moundir is 13-5 in the No. 1 slot for the nationally ranked Monarchs. It is the fourth weekly honor for ODU men's tennis this season and the second for Moundir (Feb. 9).
Next up for the Tennis Monarchs will be the regular season finale and Senior Day, when Old Dominion hosts Middle Tennessee from Conference USA at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Sunday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m.
