WALLACE, N.C. -- Maggie Simmermacher placed 10th out of 75 golfers as the ODU women's golf team recorded a fourth-place finish out of 13 participating schools at the River Landing Classic on Sunday.
Entering Sunday's final round in third place, No. 30 East Carolina cinched the team title, ousting runner-up Penn State by four strokes. Harvard finished in third place while the Lady Monarchs grabbed fourth and Penn took fifth.
Individually, Maggie Simmermacher nabbed her fourth top-10 finish of the season, tying for 10th place after firing a one-over 73 in the third round. Katerina Vlasinova shot a 75 in the final round to claim 18th place, registering her fifth top-20 finish of the season in the process. Charlotte De Corte and Sana Tufail both tied for 24th place. Competing as an individual, Charlotte Hindmoor claimed 33rd, and ODU's Rachel Walker placed 49th.
Old Dominion finished in the top four for lowest par three, four and five scoring averages and also had the third-most pars with 162 and sunk the fourth-most birdies with 23.
Simmermacher registered the fourth-lowest par four scoring average (4.20) of all 75 golfers. Tufail finished the tournament with 39 pars, the third-most of all golfers, and Vlaisnova had 36 pars to her credit.
The Lady Monarchs will compete in the Conference USA Championships April 18-20 in Fort Myers, Florida.
