LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The No. 61 Old Dominion women’s tennis team had its three-match win streak snapped as the Lady Monarchs fell to 13-0 UNLV by a 5-2 score on Wednesday afternoon Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Running Rebels are now a perfect 12-0 on their home courts this season.
After falling behind 1-0 early in the match after doubles, ODU’s Nikol Hristova tied the team score at 1-1 when she made quick work out of UNLV’s Reka Szentes on Court No. 5 (6-3, 6-0).
Old Dominion then fell behind 2-1, when Lady Tennis Monarch sophomore Borislava Botusharova has no problem with the Running Rebels Aiwen Zhu in straight sets on Court No. 2 (7-5, 6-4) to tie the team score back up at 2 apiece, respectively.
However, UNLV would claim victory in the remaining three singles matches, lifting the hosting the Running Rebels to a 5-2 win on Wednesday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Lady Monarchs currently have posted notable wins against No. 49 ranked Indiana, No. 57 ranked Harvard and No. 65 ranked Tulane.
The Lady Tennis Monarchs will have 10 days in between their next match, which will be against Boston University on Saturday, March 19, before taking on Brown on Sunday, March 20. Both matches are slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. in Providence, Rhode Island.
