JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Charlotte De Corte placed fifth out of 96 golfers as the ODU Lady Monarchs took seventh out of 17 teams at the UNF Collegiate on Tuesday.
No. 36 Houston captured the team title, ousting No. 25 Texas in the third and final round of the tournament. Campbell and the College of Charleston tied for third while Chattanooga placed fifth, Eastern Kentucky grabbed sixth and the Lady Monarchs took seventh.
Individually, Houston's No. 99 Megan Thothong and Emily Gilbreth tied with one another for the title. ODU's Charlotte De Corte finished in a tie for fifth with Laura Gomez of James Madison and Nadine White from Campbell, just two strokes behind the champions.
Katerina Vlasinova made the third round her best round, firing a 74 to finish in a tie for 30th place, and Maggie Simmermacher finished just one stroke behind in a tie for 35th. Rachel Walker tied for 62nd place.
Old Dominion finished the tournament with the second-best par four scoring average (4.25) behind only Houston, the championship team.
De Corte tied for the third-lowest par five scoring average (4.83) and also had 37 pars. Vlasinova and Walker shot 33 pars apiece.
The Lady Monarchs will take a few weeks off before returning to action March 28-29 at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate in Atlanta.
