MERCER, Ga. -- Junior midfielder Connor Carson has been named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Carson, who was named the A-Sun Player of the Week just two weeks ago, helped Old Dominion to a 1-1 week, including a 12-8 victory over Liberty on Saturday. Over the two games, Carson caused five turnovers and recorded a team-high seven draw controls. The Charlottesville native also scored a goal and added two assists.
Carson's accolade marks the third consecutive week that a Lady Monarch has been honored in the A-Sun weekly awards. Last week, Maggi Buckley was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
The weekly honor is Carson's third of her career, as she earned one Player of the Week award last season. Carson and Danielle Della Rocca of Jacksonville are the only two players in the conference to earn two weekly honors already this season and she is just the third A-Sun player ever to win both awards in the same season.
The Lady Monarchs return to action on Thursday at William & Mary at 12 p.m.
