NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 58 Old Dominion Lady Tennis Monarchs (10-5) return home to the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center for matches on Friday against Montana (3-8) at 1:00 p.m. and Saturday against George Washington (5-8) at 12:00 p.m. Saturday will mark Senior Day for Nikol Hristova and Ivana Vukovic, who will be honored. ODU has won three in a row, as well as nine of their last 11 matches.
Hristova and Vukovic will be honored for their commitment and dedication to the Old Dominion women’s tennis program. Hristova, a senior captain out of Sofia, Bulgaria, garnered ODU’s first C-USA Player of the Week honor in program history and was named to the C-USA All-Academic Singles First Team in 2014. Vukovic, a senior out of Croatia, has been a key member of the team and has had several big victories for Old Dominion over the course of her career, including a singles and doubles victory in the first round of the 2014 C-USA tournament to lift ODU to victory in thrilling fashion.
Old Dominion has already knocked off four nationally ranked opponents this season: No 65 Tulane (4-2), No. 57 Harvard (4-2), No. 49 Indiana (4-3) and No. 68 Brown (4-2).
The Grizzlies enter Friday’s match with a 3-8 overall record and are currently on a four-match losing streak. Montana will take on Richmond on Thursday, ODU on Friday and then William and Mary on Saturday to complete its Virginia road-swing.
The Colonials enter Saturday’s match with a 5-8 overall record, including a 2-6 mark on the road, while winning of just two of their last 9 matches. George Washington is led by sophomore Teodora Radosavljevic, reigning Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team member, who holds an 8-4 singles record at the No. 1 spot for the Colonials.
