NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's rowing team is set to compete in a full-day event at Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Friday, March 25. The event, hosted by North Carolina, features ODU, UNC, Georgetown and West Virginia.
Racing begins at 9 a.m. and will run until approximately 2 p.m.
Friday's event will be the second of the spring and fourth of the 2015-16 season for the Lady Monarchs. ODU competed in the Head of the Charles (Cambridge, Mass.) and the Head of the Hooch (Chattanooga, Tenn.) during the fall, and then opened the spring with a home race against George Mason last Saturday.
All of the races will be at Lake Wheeler, which is located approximately eight miles southwest of downtown Raleigh. UNC trains on University Lake in Carrboro, but Lake Wheeler provides a better setting for racing. Thus, the Tar Heels host a competition at Lake Wheeler every few years, moving their “home” water temporarily to Raleigh.
