Providence, R.I. – Every rostered Lady Tennis Monarch played as the No. 71 Old Dominion women’s tennis team (9-5) handled business on the road for the second consecutive day, this time at No. 68 nationally ranked Brown (11-5) by a 4-2 score on Sunday afternoon. The loss was the Bears first at home this season, as they were a perfect 8-0 on their own courts entering Sunday’s showdown. With the win, ODU has now claimed victory in eight of its last 10 matches.
The Lady Tennis Monarchs started the day off in a 1-0 hole after Brown won the doubles point; however, Old Dominion would win four of five matches in singles play.
After dropping the first set in No. 1 singles, ODU’s Borislava Botusharova rallied to defeat Dayna Lord (1-6, 6-3, 6-3).
Nataliya Vlasova proved to be too much for Hannah Camhi in a tight three-setter (6-1, 5-7, 6-3) in No. 3 singles.
Nikol Hristova made quick work out of Brown’s Maddie Stearns (6-1, 6-3) on Court No. 4.
Old Dominion’s Ingrid Vojcinakova had no problem with Katie Ta (6-2, 6-3) in No. 5 singles.
The Lady Tennis Monarchs will be back in action next week in Mobile, Alabama, when they take on South Alabama on Thursday, March 24 and then Miami (Ohio) on Friday, March 25.
