NORFOLK, Va. -- Following a win at American last week, the Old Dominion women's lacrosse team returns to the nation's capital for a matchup with George Washington on Saturday, March 19, at 1 p.m. at the GW Lacrosse Field.
A live video stream and live scoring will be available for fans.
Old Dominion (5-2) made the road trip to Washington, D.C., last Saturday, defeating American, 7-6, behind three second-half goals from Ashmore Standing. Connor Carson also tallied two goals in the win, while Morgan Marrale added a goal and an assist.
The Lady Monarchs currently lead the Atlantic Sun in three statistical categories, including win percentage (.714). ODU also ranks first in the A-Sun in scoring offense (10.86) and caused turnovers per game (12.14).
Individually, Standing not only leads the conference in both overall scoring (29) and goals (26), but her 26-goal total is also tied for third in the NCAA. Additionally, Standing's seven-goal performance against William & Mary last week is tied for the fourth-highest single-game total so far this season.
Marrale (7g/7a), Carson (10g/3a) and Megan Topper (5g/6a) also own double-digit scoring totals for the Lady Monarchs this season. Defensively, Morgan Gallagher and Natalie Ledwitz have each caused double-digit turnovers with 11 and 10, respectively. In goal, Maggi Buckley has played all but 10 minutes for the Lady Monarchs and ranks 16th in the NCAA in saves with 59.
George Washington (2-5) recorded its second win of the season on Wednesday, earning a 7-6 road victory at Mercer. Junior attacker Bailey Forcier leads the Colonials in scoring with 13 points on eight goals and five assists. Sophomore midfielder Jocelyn Donohue leads the team in goals with nine, while senior midfielder Olivia Boudreau has tallied a team-high nine assists. In goal, Adele Wise and Erin Long split time, with each keeper recording one victory.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first all-time meeting between ODU and George Washington.
MIDMAJOR LAX POLL
Old Dominion is ranked 23rd in the latest MidMajor Lax Top 25. The Lady Monarchs moved up two spots after being ranked 25th in last week's poll. The poll ranks the top 25 midmajor teams in the country.
'STANDING' OUT
Senior Ashmore Standing currently ranks fourth in the NCAA in goals this season with 23. The Virginia Beach native also ranks fourthth all-time in ODU history in career goals (130) and eighth in points (162). 2015 ODU Sports Hall of Fame inductee and three-time All-American Suzanne Wosczyna holds the school record in both categories (206 goals, 325 points).

WEEKLY HONORS
For the fourth consecutive week, a Lady Monarch has been named an Atlantic Sun Player of the Week. On Tuesday, the conference announced Ashmore Standing as the A-Sun Player of the Week. Connor Carson has won a weekly award twice this season, while Maggi Buckley has garnered one accolade.
PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE
A total of four Lady Monarchs were named to the preaseason All-Atlantic Sun team, voted on by the coaches. Goalkeeper Maggi Buckley, defender Morgan Gallagher, midfielder Connor Carson and attacker Ashmore Standing all earned the honor. Defender Missy Koscinski and attacker Morgan Marrale were both named to the preseason watch list. As a team, ODU was selected to finish second behind reigning champ Jacksonville.
