ODU Baseball Hosts Princeton Tuesday and Wednesday

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion baseball returns to the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex for a seven-game home stand, starting with a two-game showdown with Princeton this week.

HOW TO TUNE IN
Both games will be streamed live on Monarch Media, the official audio and video portal of odusports.com. Fans will need to purchase a package to be able to watch, with packages starting at $9.95. Live stats will also be available for each game once the contest begins.

Fans that are planning on traveling to Norfolk can purchase tickets the day of the game at the stadium. ODU baseball voucher books are also on sale. ABOUT OLD DOMINION (11-4)
The Baseball Monarchs enter the matchup with Princeton with an 11-4 overall record after defeating Super Regional participant VCU and going 1-2 against Big 12 opponent West Virginia last week.

ODU is off to a great start and is rated 25th in the most up to date Rating Percentage Index (RPI) standings (warrennolan.com), the second highest Conference USA school. Southern Miss sits just ahead of ODU at No. 20. The Monarchs also boast the 44th toughest schedule in the country out of 300 ranked teams, which is also good for third in C-USA. Rice is third, while Southern Miss is ranked 29th.

Friday: Brett Smith (RHP, Fr., 1.64 ERA)
Smith has made five appearances for ODU, with one start. He holds a 1.64 ERA and a 1-0 record. He has recorded 10 strikeouts in 11.0 innings. He earned his first win after pitching in 4.2 innings and fanning three against Super Regional participant VCU.

Saturday: Victor Diaz (RHP, RSr., 2.51 ERA)
Diaz has seen action in five games so far this season and holds a 1-1 record. He has recorded a 2.51 ERA in 14.1 innings pitched and will start in his third game this year. He has also posted eight strikeouts.

ABOUT PRINCETON (1-4)
The Tigers will face Richmond today before heading to Norfolk to take on the Baseball Monarchs. Overall, Princeton holds a 1-4 record with its only win coming against Penn State on March 12. The win also started a 12-day road trip for the Tigers that concludes with a four-game series with Georgetown in Washington, D.C.

The Tigers have 21 players returning from last year's team including All-Ivy performers, Danny Hoy and Billy Arendt. Some of the other top returners include Zack Belski (.254/.333/.285), Nick Hernandez (.250/.317/.333), Paul Tupper (.225/.266/.285), Asher Lee-Tyson (.247/.337/.260) and Danny Baer (.180/.291/292). Princeton also has its top four starting pitchers returning in Luke Strieber (1-5, 3.86 ERA), Keelan Smithers (1-8, 5.16 ERA), Chad Powers (1-6, 6.55 ERA) and Nick Brady (1-6, 7.21 ERA).

Projected Starters:
Tuesday: Joe Flynn (RHP, Fr., 16.20 ERA)
Flynn has made an appearance on the mound in one game, pitching 1.2 innings against the Louisville Cardinals. He allowed three hits, three runs and has three errors to hold a 16.20 ERA.

Wednesday: Tanner Kliewer (RHP, Fr., 9.00 ERA)
Kliewer also made his only appearance against Louisville, pitching 2.0 innings in the 9-1 loss. He allowed two hits, two runs and two errors, while striking out one batter. Overall he has thrown 46 pitches and holds a 9.00 ERA.
