KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The Old Dominion women's golf team placed fourth at the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic out of 41 participating teams. The Lady Monarchs moved up from fifth to fourth on the third and final day, surpassing Elon on the strength of a one-under third round performance by Katerina Vlasinova.
Coastal Carolina grabbed the team title, as the Chanticleers shot an 871 (+7) for the tournament. Chattanooga finished as the runner-up, while College of Charleston, Old Dominion and Elon rounded out the top five, respectively.
Vlasinova fired a 71 in round three to finish in a tie for ninth place out of 216 golfers, while Maggie Simmermacher and Charlotte De Corte shot a 73 in round three to finish in a tie for 21st. Rachel Walker tied for 53rd, and Sana Tufail tied for 109th.
As a team, the Lady Monarchs tied for best par four scoring average (4.12) with Chattanooga and finished in a second place tie for most birdies with 39.
Individually, De Corte and Vlasinova tied for second-lowest par four scoring average (3.89), and Maggie Simmermacher tied for most birdies with 13.
