MERCER, Ga. -- Following a standout performance against Virginia Tech, junior goalkeeper Maggi Buckley has been named the Atlantic Sun's Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Buckley played a key role in the Lady Monarchs' 10-7 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday, playing the full 60 minutes in goal and tallying 12 saves. The win over the Hokies was the program's first since 1997.

For the season, Buckley ranks second in the A-Sun with a .500 save percentage and a 10.41 goals against average. The Owings, Md., native was also named to the Preseason All-A-Sun team, voted on by the league coaches.

Old Dominion has now had a player honored in consecutive weeks, after Connor Carson earned A-Sun Player of the Week honors last week.

The Lady Monarchs return to action tomorrow at 6 p.m. against Richmond at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex, as they seek their first 4-0 start since 2008. Admission is free for all fans.
