MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The No. 57 nationally ranked Old Dominion women’s tennis team (3-3) was too much for James Madison (1-2) by a 4-0 score on Thursday night at Salisbury Country Club.
“I’m happy with how we competed today,” said Old Dominion head coach Dom Manilla. “JMU really tested our grit and we were pleased that we came away with a victory at all positions.”
In doubles play, ODU’s Ingrid Vojcinakova and Marijana Novakovic took down Kimmy Herrock Emma Petersen, 6-2.
Then on Court No. 1, Old Dominion’s tandem of Adriana Rajkovic and Ivana Vukovic clinched the doubles point to give the Lady Tennis Monarchs an early 1-0 advantage after they defeated JMU’s Bella Heidenreich and Timea Guibe, 6-2.
Adriana Rajkovic pushed Old Dominion’s lead to 2-0 when she beat Abby Amos in straight sets (7-5, 6-2).
ODU captain Nikol Hristova extended the Lady Monarchs advantage to 3-0 after claiming a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory against Rachel Nelson on Court No. 2.
On Court No. 1, Old Dominion’s freshman Nataliya Vlasova got the better of Timea Guibe in three sets (5-7, 6-4, 6-2), sealing the deal for ODU’s dominating 4-0 win over James Madison on Thursday night.
Although unfinished, ODU’s Ingrid Vojcinakova and Marijana Novakovic jumped out to commanding leads in their respective singles matches before the matches were ultimately called.

Old Dominion will be back in action on Sat. Feb. 13, when they travel to Richmond to take on VCU at 1:00 p.m.
