NORFOLK, Va. - Virginia Tech scored 11 runs in the fourth inning and cruised to a 22-1 win over Old Dominion University baseball in the second game of the day at the ODU Baseball Tournament on Saturday night.

The Hokies improve to 3-3 while the loss moves the Monarchs to 5-1.

Virginia Tech sent 13-straight batters to the plate without recording an out in the fourth, including four walks, a strikeout that reached on a wild pitch and an error.  Phil Sciretta knocked in a two-run double to start the rally and later delivered a run scoring single.

The Hokies added three more runs in the sixth to take a 14-0 lead as Max Ponzurick knocked a two-run homer off the left field foul pole.

VT added two more runs before ODU got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Chris Livers singled and moved to second on a Jason McMurray walk.  Seth Woodard reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second, and the throw went into center field allowing Livers to score.

The Hokies added six runs in the eighth as Sciretta and Sam Fragale knocked in two runs apiece.

Justin Hayes led the Monarchs with two hits.  Sciretta was 5-for-6 with seven RBI for the Hokies while Tom Stoffel, Fragale and Ponzurick had two hits apiece.

Kit Scheetz tossed six scoreless innings to pick up the win while Jake Josephs took the loss.

The Monarchs are back in action tomorrow against Delaware at 3 p.m. in the final game of the ODU Baseball Tournament.  Virginia Tech takes on Manhattan tomorrow in the first game at 11 a.m.
