NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 55 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (9-3) extended its win streak to seven matches, and continued to stay undefeated at home this season. The Monarchs defeated both Bucknell (4-5) and Hampton (0-3) by a score of 7-0, while not allowing either team win a single set all day.
No. 105 Adam Moundir added another win under his belt when he defeated Nick Bybel in two sets 6-2, 6-4. Reigning Conference-USA player of the week, Michael Weindl was victorious over Bucknell’s Dan Wright by a score of 6-3, 6-1.
ODU’s Aziz Kijametovic extended his win streak to 10, when he took down the Bison’s Bryan Adams 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 position. Then against Hampton, Kijametovic was not fazed by being bumped to the No. 1 spot when he handled the Pirates Matthew Foster-Estwick 6-3, 6-0.
Old Dominion’s Javier Jover-Maestre, Jacob Nicolussi, and Jose Nunez Navarro all stepped up for the Monarchs, each going 2-0 on the day, beating their opponents in straight sets.
ODU will now travel to No. 25 N.C. State (10-4) for a Sunday, Feb. 28 showdown at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
