NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion redshirt senior guard Trey Freeman has been named Conference USA Player of the Week after dropping a career-high 37 points against Marshall and 28 points against Western Kentucky last week. The award is Freeman’s first of the season and third of his career.

Freeman’s 37 points against Marshall moved him to the top of the C-USA scoring chart for the first time this season with 20.0 ppg to rank 26th nationally. To go along with a career high of 37 points, Freeman added three rebounds and three assists against Marshall on Saturday night.

Prior to the Marshall game, Freeman had scored a then-career-high 28 points in the Monarchs’ previous three outings, which is what he matched when he led ODU to a win over visiting WKU on Thursday night.

For the week, Freeman averaged 32.5 points per game, hitting 71.4 percent from three and 100 percent from the free-throw line to go along with 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest.

Freeman is averaging 30.2 points per game over the last four contests.

Awards are chosen by a vote from a media panel representing the 14 member schools.

Charlotte’s Jon Davis was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, after averaging a team-leading 22.0 points per game last week in a pair of 49er victories.
