MACON, Ga. -- Four Old Dominion women’s lacrosse players were named to the Atlantic Sun preseason all-conference team, the league announced on Friday.

Maggi Buckley, Connor Carson, Morgan Gallagher and Ashmore Standing were all selected to the squad. In addition, Missy Koscinski and Morgan Marrale were both named to the preseason watch list.

As a team, the Lady Monarchs were selected to finish second in the league behind reigning champ Jacksonville. ODU was the only team other than the Dolphins to earn a first-place vote.

Standing, a senior forward, was one of only two unanimous selections after averaging a league-high 2.89 goals per game in 2015. The Virginia Beach native, who was named All-A-Sun and a MidMajor All-American last year, finished the season with 52 total goals, which led ODU and was second in the A-Sun. Her 136 career goals currently rank 10th all-time in school history.

Buckley was one of two goalkeepers named to the preseason all-conference team. The junior from Owings, Maryland, posted a 7.62 goals against average and a .512 save percentage last season while splitting time with now-graduated Karen Hayde.

Carson, a junior midfielder, garnered first team honors after being named to the A-Sun all-conference and all-tournament teams a year ago. The Charlottesville native finished third on the Lady Monarchs in scoring in 2015 with 46 points on 39 goals and seven assists.

Gallagher, a senior defender, was the fourth Lady Monarch to land on the team. The West Chester, Pennsylvania, native was also an All-A-Sun selection last year, as well as a MidMajor All-American. Gallagher started all 18 games last season, collecting 41 ground balls and causing 24 turnovers.

The Lady Monarchs open their season on Feb. 17 at Longwood. The home opener is slated for Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. against Campbell. For more information on the ODU women's lacrosse team, follow on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
