NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion wrestling team (4-6, 0-1 MAC) hits the road this weekend for a pair of MAC dual meets against Buffalo (7-6, 0-3 MAC) on Friday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. and No. 22 Kent State on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. Friday night’s showdown with Buffalo will be aired live on ESPN3.

The Monarchs enter the weekend after a 24-12 loss to No. 21 Northern Iowa last Sunday at the Ted Constant Center. Brandon Jeske improved his winning streak to five with a 7-3 decision over UNI’s Leighton Gaul while Alexander Richardson earned a tech. fall at 149. In his first match back since the Midlands, Jack Dechow picked up a major decision at 184 for ODU.

Buffalo (7-6, 0-3 MAC) enters the meet after splitting matches last Saturday, as the Bulls took down Sacred Heart, 32-6, but fell to Columbia, 18-15. Buffalo will be seeking its first MAC victory of the season against the Monarchs, as the Bulls have lost to Missouri, Eastern Michigan and Kent State so far. They are led by redshirt sophomore Colt Cotten, who is 7-4 at 149, Tyler Rill, who is 10-6 at 165, and Joe Ariola, who is 8-8 at 184 and is tied for the team lead in career dual meet victories with 15.

The No. 22 Kent State Golden Flashes (10-3, 3-1 MAC) enter Sunday’s meet on a four-match winning streak dating back to the Virginia Duals on Jan. 8-9 where they defeated ODU, 23-13. Last weekend, Kent State pulled past Eastern Michigan, 19-14, and upended Ohio, 20-15. Redshirt senior Ian Miller, who is 16-0 and ranked No. 2 at 157, leads the Golden Flashes. Mack McGuire and Kyle Conel are also nationally ranked at 133 and 197, respectively.
