IRVING, Texas – Conference USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced that Old Dominion women’s soccer midfielder, Grace Haverly, was one of 14 student-athletes that received a C-USA Fall Spirit of Service Award today. The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league’s student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service Award will be presented three times throughout the season, with today’s honorees representing Conference USA’s fall sports: football, soccer, volleyball and cross country.

Old Dominion junior captain Grace Haverly has played a major role in the resurgence of the Old Dominion women’s soccer program. She was named to the C-USA All-Tournament Team after scoring a goal in the Monarchs’ quarterfinal match to not only advance to the semifinals but also to give the program its most wins in a season since 2008.

Haverly maintains a 3.71 GPA as a civil engineering major, and has already earned Dean’s List recognition four times. Enrolled in the Honors College, she recently earned A’s in Ordinary Differential Equation, Calculus 3 and Physics.

The Virginia Beach, Virginia, native has volunteered at James Monroe Elementary School, playing soccer related games with the kids. Haverly also volunteered her time for Charity Kicks, an effort to support youth soccer and raise money for Hampton Roads’ children’s charities.

In double overtime against UTSA, Haverly scored the game-winning goal off a header, giving Old Dominion three crucial points in the conference standings. Haverly finished the season third on the team for goals with three and game-winners, as well as fifth on the team for points with six.
