NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion wrestling team moved up to as high as No. 11 in the latest set of polls this week while three Monarchs remained in the top five in the individual rankings.
ODU jumped ahead of Illinois in FloWrestling’s team rankings to land the No. 11 slot while the Monarchs and the Fighting Illini are tied for 12th in InterMat’s tournament team poll.
Individually, Chris Mecate remained as high as No. 2 at 141, Alexander Richardson stayed at No. 4 at 149, Jack Dechow held on to the No. 5 spot at 184 and Brandon Jeske clung to the No. 20 ranking at 125.
Also worth noting is that Alexander Richardson has now cracked the top five in every set of rankings, climbing from the No. 7 to the No. 5 spot according to WIN Magazine and moving up from No. 6 to No. 5 in FloWrestling’s rankings.
The Monarchs get back in action on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. for their home opener against No. 15 North Carolina.
