IRVING, Texas -- A total of eight Monarchs earned All-Conference USA honors this season, as the league released its 2015 regular season awards and all-conference teams on Tuesday.

Niko Klosterhalfen was named the conference's Freshman of the Year. The Germany native is second on the team in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists. A starter in 13 of ODU’s 15 matches, Klosterhalfen was also named the 40th-best freshman in the country by Top Drawer Soccer earlier this season. The last Monarch to earn conference Freshman/Rookie of the Year was Steffen Rabben in 2008 (CAA).

Michael Nelson and Ivan Militar both earned First Team All-C-USA honors. A team captain, Nelson has started all 15 games at center back and was named STIHL Classic MVP, after scoring a crucial goal in the Monarchs’ tournament-clinching victory. Militar, also a team captain, leads the team in scoring with 12 points on three goals and six assists. His 21 career assists are tied for fifth all-time in ODU history.

Alex Tiesenhausen landed on the All-C-USA Second Team as a goalkeeper. The Austria native has recorded five shutouts on the season and 0.94 goals against average.

David Macsicza, Jesse Miralrio and Cole Stringer all earned Third Team All-C-USA honors. Macsicza, a senior from Slovakia, has started all 15 games at center back. Miralrio, a junior from Arlington, Texas, has tallied four goals and one assist on the season. Stringer, a junior from Keller, Texas, has started 13 games as a defensive center midfielder and has scored one goal.

Jack Willbye, along with Klosterhalfen, landed on the C-USA All-Freshman Team. Willbye, an England native, has played in all but one match, making 11 starts as a center midfielder.
