NORFOLK, Va. -- The 20th-ranked Old Dominion men's soccer team closes out its regular season with a home match versus Marshall on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
ODU (8-3-3, 3-2-2) currently sits in fourth place in the C-USA standings following a 3-1 loss at South Carolina last weekend. A win on Saturday guarantees the Monarchs a fourth seed in the conference tournament. A loss or tie could drop them to the fifth seed, depending on FIU's result against No. 12 Kentucky on Saturday night.
Ivan Militar leads ODU in scoring with 12 points (3g/6a), while Niko Klosterhalfen (4g/3a) and Josue Henriquez (5g/1a) have each tallied 11 points on the season. Defensively, goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen has posted five shutouts in net and senior center backs David Macsicza and Michael Nelson have started every match.
Marshall (6-8-1, 1-5-1) currently sits in eighth place in the league table, and will need a win in order to earn a bid to the C-USA Tournament. The top seven teams qualify for the tournament. Rimario Gordon (5g) and Daniel Jodah (3g/4a) lead the Herd attack, while goalkeepers Bijan Gloston and Dominik Reining have combined for three shutouts in net.
The Monarchs lead the all-time series, 2-1-0, but Marshall won last year's meeting, 2-1, in double overtime in Huntington.
