COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The No. 13 Old Dominion men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss at South Carolina on Saturday night at the Gamecocks' Stone Stadium.

South Carolina (9-6-1, 6-2-0) went ahead less than two minutes into the game when Asa Kryst hit a strike from 20 yards out that deflected off of a player and into the lower left corner of the net.

ODU (8-3-3, 3-2-2) wasted no time equalizing, however, as Tyler Edwards headed in an Ivan Militar set piece just two minutes after the Gamecocks’ score.

Edwards' goal was his first of the season, while Militar’s assist was the 21st of his career, moving him into a tie for fifth all-time in program history.

Despite the early score, the match would head into halftime tied at 1-1. At the break, the Gamecocks held the shot advantage, 10-5, and the edge in corner kicks, 3-1.

In the second half, the Gamecocks went back ahead in the 67th minute when Jeffrey Torda knocked in a loose ball inside the box following a free kick. Danny Deakin added the insurance goal in the 88th minute on a penalty kick.

Overall, the Gamecocks outshot ODU, 18-12. Alex Tiesenhausen tallied three saves in net for the Monarchs, while Militar and Josue Henriquez each registered a team-high three shots.
