New York  All conference games have been played and the field is now set. Connecticut, Temple, Villanova and Old Dominion will play in next week’s BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship at the L.R. Sports Complex on the campus of ODU.

UConn claimed the top seed in tournament by going undefeated through the regular season. The Huskies are a perfect 18-0 and will look to win their third consecutive conference championship. They have outscored their league opponents 35-0 through five games in 2015.

Meeting Connecticut in the first round of the championship will be fourth-seeded Old Dominion. After upset losses to Temple and Villanova, ODU won its way into the field by besting Providence 5-0 on Friday evening. The Lady Monarchs gave UConn its toughest league game of the season, limiting the two-time defending National Champion to a single goal in the mid-October encounter.

Temple scored the second seed thanks a 3-2 overtime victory of Villanova on Saturday. After giving up the go-ahead goal with under seven minutes left in regulation, the Owls answered back immediately as Hattie Kuhns scored to even things up and send the game to OT where Maiyah Brown put away the game-winner. The Owls and third-seeded Wildcats will meet again next week in Virginia to decide who will face the winner of UConn-ODU in the Championship game.

The 2015 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship will be held at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on the campus of Old Dominion with the semifinals on Nov. 6 at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. and the title game on Nov. 8 at 1:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on-site or online at www.ynottix.com. All three games will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network via the FOX Sports GO app.
