POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- The ODU men’s golf team remains in a tie for second place after round two of the ODU/OBX Invitational at the Kilmarlic Golf Course in Powells Point, N.C. The Monarchs’ David Langley is tied for seventh place in the individual standings after firing a school-record 63 in the first round and a 78 in round two.
Leading the 18-team race, Campbell shot a 292 in the second round and is nine strokes under par with a 559 score. Old Dominion fired a 287 while Bowling Green shot a 284 in round two, leaving the two schools knotted at 565, which is three-under par. Akron is in fourth and George Mason is fifth heading into the final day of the tournament.
Golfers from Campbell currently occupy first and second place on the individual leaderboard, as Craig Hornberger has shot 64-72=136 (-6), and Gaston Bertinotti has shot 66-71=137 (-5).
David Langley ranks highest for ODU, as he is tied for seventh place after shooting 63-78=141 (-1). Seth Sweet moved up to a tie for 12th place after shooting 72-71=143 (+1), and freshman Calvin Greschner is tied for 17th. Old Dominion’s Thomas Henderson is also tied for 17th place, though his score does not count toward ODU’s total because he is participating as an individual.
Langley has recorded a par five scoring average of 4.38 (-5), which is the lowest of all 93 golfers after two rounds. He has has also sunk 10 birdies.
The Monarchs’ Chad Hess and Calvin Greschner are tied for second for most pars with 26, and freshman Nick Rencis, playing as an individual, sunk an eagle during the second round.
The final day of the ODU/OBX Invitational begins tomorrow at 8 a.m.
